Broadway dreams aside, Alie Rutty is exploring different ways to make theatre.
Alie has had a broad range of training in dance, drama, and music. She has studied ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, musical theatre, classical voice, mime, piano, cello, improv, and physical theatre. Having been very lucky to attend primarily art schools in Toronto, she is a highly creative individual. Performing is what makes her feel alive, but she also has a deep passion for collaboration and creation. In recent years, she has been interested in how theatre can bring people together. Her improvisational projects (see "Graceville" and "Theatre Troupe") have involved people from her local community, and has brought out the best in them. Alie wishes to continue to find ways to make theatre more accessible for those who would not normally be invited to participate.
Alie's current project is "Your Friendly Neighbourhood Follies", which will bring dance and physical theatre to the streets of Toronto. In her research, she has been rehearsing outdoors at her local schoolyard.
